Lukas Kurz is a musician (drums, keys, composition) and sound engineer based in Hanover, Germany. His field of work ranges from studio productions, theatre (P14 Volksbühne Berlin, Club XS/ Staatsoper Hannover and Studiotheater Expo-Plaza) and FOH engineering to supervising editor for two book publications from Forschungszentrum Musik und Gender. He also ran the music podcast Chinesisch Badminton and worked for Exuberance Festival 2019 in Independence, Louisiana. He is a current fellowship holder of the german Musikfond e.V. and a founding member of the german music collective die neue leichtigkeit. His solo project Der Frühling is part of the 52nd funding programme of Initiative Musik.
As a long-time-member of berlin-based indie-rockers Leon Francis Farrow and as live-drummer for Darjeeling he played over 250 shows all over germany including Astra Kulturhaus (Berlin), Knust (Hamburg), Werk2 (Leipzig), c/o pop (Cologne), Reeperbahn Festival (Hamburg), Sound of Bronkow Festival (Dresden), Burning Eagle Festival (Reutlingen) and had appearances on radioeins, DeutschlandFunk Kultur, Flux.FM, Radio Fritz, plattentests.de, intro magazine and the like.
He believes that, especially in times of endless (digital) possibilities, it is important to have the courage to make decisions during the process of creating music in order to achieve something unique.
